Mini Beauty Haul

Hello loves! So I decided to add some basic items to my makeup collection.
I've heard so much about Urban Decay and for my first shadow palette I got Naked 2. This palette has many natural shades with shimmery and matte finishes and I thought it was perfect for makeup newbies like myself . I could definitely do a simple everyday look to a more glamorous night look with this palette.

Here are all the shades and their cute names.
The Palette came with a two sided synthetic fiber brush , one side for blending and the other for applying.

The other product I got was a BB cream by Garnier Fructis in the shade deep. I find this perfect for everyday coverage especially if you attend High School or University like me and you want a very natural and modest look. Also it was refreshing to finally find a BB cream that matches my skin tone perfectly and who's "deep" wasn't too light.

The only problem I find with this product is that it's not as moisturizing as I hoped it would be and primarily functions as a sunblock (SPF 20) so I just pair it with my moisturizer and I'm good to go.

Every girl needs an eyelid primer! Before I got this one by Elf I used my MAC concealer .

Honestly I'm still getting the hang of this but from what I can tell so far it's an ok primer. The consistency is clumpy and I definitely have to use the applicator to smooth it out on my lid. But it does help to show up the true colour of the eyeshadow and delays creasing .Finally , I was looking for a nude/ natural lip colour for darker skin tones and I found "Show Me" lipglass by MAC.
I absolutely adore this product an will definitely repurchase when it's finished .
That's it for the review on my recent beauty purchases.

Also Happy Fashion Week,
Adrienne Justine

Baroque Inspired Nail Art

For Today's "Nails Of The Day" I went for a fun navy blue with a gold Baroque print accent nail. I am literally in love with the Baroque print because it has a royal elegance to it . For this nail art I used Essie's 'No more film' which is the dark blue colour and a gold polish by Kleancolor. You can check out my tutorial to get this look which I'll leave at the end of this post. Below are some of my inspirations for the Baroque nail art I created.

Quick fact: The very trendy Baroque print gracing many fashion magazines and runways today actually derived from a very artistic Baroque Era (1590-1725) based in Europe in which many forms of art such as music architecture, fine arts and performing arts patterned this aristocratic eloquence to impress foreign visitors.

Out with a bang! (Ricks Cafe and Beaches Negril)

I left from the hotel and headed towards West End to get the best view of the sunset from Ricks Café. Ricks Cafe is amongst the top 10 Cafes in the world and is a spot to dine, watch live performances, party, watch a fiery sunset, lounge in the pool and cliff dive.

After the sunset .
After watching the sunset I decided to go cliff diving . There were 3 levels and after hearing how terrifying the jump was from even the lowest level I made up my mind to just start with the highest level. Many people attempted and once they went to the edge and looked down they freaked out . Well it was my turn and I told myself I wouldn't look down. I went to the edge and my family began counting down and I jumped in before they were done.

The fall lasted an eternity or so it seemed. I felt completely out of control of my body. A million years later I finally crashed in a streamline into the water and I was just glad to be in the water. I did it ! It was scary and exciting at the same time but it was totally worth it .

Beaches Negril Jamaica

Happy Sunday from Beaches Negril in Jamaica. I've been vacationing here since Wednesday and I can undoubtedly say that this is the best hotel I've been to in my country (Jamaica) , and my 2nd favorite in the Carribbean (the first being Atlantis in the Bahamas). The hotel is all inclusive and offers a wide range of restaurants ,activities and facilities. The grounds and Architecture are breathtakingly beautiful and Negril has the most gorgeous sunset on the island.

Sleeping in paradise!

Nails of the day

I like to think that my nails are like mood rings on each finger that express to the world how I'm feeling. Ha ! Ok that's a little dramatic but my mood does inspire my nails of the day (NOTD) and right now I'm feeling like a bold red Geranium. Geranium by Essie is what I'm wearing right now and for now it's my fave colour.

The colors I've been wearing a lot this summer are :

I find the entire line to include high quality nail polishes which dry quickly and are easy to apply because of its fluidity .

New Collection Review!

I'm so excited to do a review on an awesome organic beauty  line that I had the privilege of trying out. The collection is called Feel Good Formulas by Arran Arromatics located in Scotland.  It includes a wide range of beauty products with traditional/ organic ingredients. Here are a few products from the collection that I've been using .

These body washes/ moussant smell amazing and leave my skin really moisturized.
I use this as a facial soap even though it says for body . It suds a  little. You could definately use it for both. It isn't heavy and I love that it has Shea!

The collection is great. The packaging is unique and colourful, and the ingredients are organic, invigorating and just great for your skin and hair. Here's a link to their website on which you can order any of these products and much more without traveling all the way to Scotland even though that would be pretty cool :)  Arran Arromatics . A special thanks to Raahki Sunak who gave these great products to moi .

Summer Beauty Regimen

Summer is the best time of year, BUT with all the sun, chlorine and saltwater exposure you encounter from going to the beach, pool and lounging in in the sun, its easy for your skin and hair to suffer. I live in Jamaica , an island with a tropical climate all year round, so I figured I'd share my tips and tricks and what I plan to add to my summer beauty regimen this year.

  Skin Care

A daily moisturizer with SPF is a must !!The summer sun can cause premature aging such as wrinkles and age spots: and we don't want that do we?  I use clean and clear's Dual action moisturizer which fights pimples while moisturizing your skin.Another added benefit is that its oil-free , and I don't know about you but my face produces more oil in warm weather , so I tend to go for the oil-free moisturizers.Another thing I cannot live without is a lip balm with SPF. What I'm using right now is BABY lips by Maybeline and yes it does actually make your lips baby smooth and keeps them from getting dry and cracked from extremely hot weather.I mentioned earlier that my skin gets really oily in warm weather, to control this I use proactive's refining clay mask once a week. The clay pulls and absorbs toxins and excess oil from your pores . I also use  this as an overnight spot treatment for any little pimples I might get . I love it!. I use coco butter to moisturize my body and I add coco butter's skin therapy vitamin E oil especially to my legs.

Hair Care

I'm currently trying to grow out my hair this summer and sometimes it seems impossible when I know every time I go to the beach or pool I'm damaging my hair not to mention when I blow dry and flat iron it after I go to the beach/pool. However I'm determined to have some progress by . 1) Protective styling as much as possible. Protective styling means wearing hair styles that keep the ends of your hair protected such as buns , up-doo's, faux bobs , princess braids etc. By hiding the ends of your hair you minimize contact of the penetrating sun on your hair and also reduce breakage caused by the ends of your hair brushing on your clothes and other surfaces that dry out your hair. 2) Heat protectors. I use argan oil/serum and Tresame's heat protector as a "sunblock" for my hair when I do wear it down.3) Wear a leave-in-conditioner to the beach/pool and wash your hair ASAP after you're finished swimming. 4) Deep Condition. I really try to deep condition my hair more often in the summer time . Deep conditioners penetrate the hair shaft to strengthen it from the inside out.

Those are some of things I do to keep my skin and hair healthy during extremely hot /humid weather. One final tip. Drink a lot of water! This definitely helps to prevent your hair or skin from getting dry. I hope this blog helped anyone considering how to alter their beauty regimen in preparation for the hot weather.

Mother's Day

I wore a simple maxi skirt , oatmeal camisole and a denim vest .

Mother's Day Feast !! Cooked by Dad :)

Happy Mother's Day to all the beautiful and wonderful mothers out there. I hope everyone had a great day!! Today has been bittersweet because my mother is in the Dominican Republic and I'm home in Jamaica so as you can imagine the day felt incomplete without her. However I had a fun time at my dad and step mom's Mother's Day dinner.

Tattoo love

I'm in love with my second tattoo. This infinity love wrist tattoo has so many meanings to me. The most important to me is as you give love you receive love. Whether you're expressing love through art, music, a relationship, or through kindness, that love will always find you back. For me my greatest loves have always been the arts and the environment, and as my passion grows in those areas opportunities to do what I love keep finding me. It is also a reminder to myself that the way I love will always be reciprocated, maybe in a way unimagined or at a time unimagined, but always.
The second meaning to me is that there is an infinite amount of love out there, to give to receive, to share, and to conquer hate.
I don't know what my next one is gonna be but I'll probably just stick to hennas for now.
